Interesting view points this morning regarding the pro porn vs amateur porn conversation. As a director here’s what I’d love to do moving forward. 1) Choose the ladies first, ask them who they would like to shoot with, who they have a chemistry with and try to make that happen. 2) I’d like to sit the performers down together before shooting and discuss what turns them on, let them co-direct and have an input in the scenes/story. 3) sit my performers down before a scene with their co-partner to make them extra comfortable and in the mood. 4) Get rid of lengthy soft core (it’s not needed and angers the performers). I have to create real, raw passionate porn that the performers are heavily invested and involved in. It must be a team effort. There has to be a way of marrying old school glamour to the new way of shooting. There are pros and cons to both pro and amateur shooting, I think the key is to utilise the best of both worlds. xx

From my experience of BG amateur vs professional shoot. Professional- 1)A script or synopsis is provided in advance. Medical tests are exchanged in advance. 2) A makeup artist is usually provided 3) Talent is chosen for you to work with (you rarely get a choice) 4)Everything is well organised 5)Scenes can take up to 6 hours to shoot 6) The camera crew will make sure you have everything you need and if anyone is uncomfortable at any point, the scene is stopped. 7)Chemistry can and does happen on a pro set. Amateur 1) Very hard to find suitable male talent to shoot with, whom are able to act professional, know their camera angles etc However choosing your own scene partner is desirable to most creators. *However, should you shoot with colleagues who you already have a chemistry with who can perform, it’s amazing to be able to freestyle and do exactly what you want to do without a camera crew present. 2)You can cut the costs by using your own home, lighting and phone equipment to shoot on. 3) Though it looks natural, positions are pre planned, with the rare exception that you have 2 performers who can read each other 4)The shoot will take a fraction of the time that a professional shoot will take. It will usually take 90 minutes maximum. To summarise, it’s quite clear to me why most professional performers are now choosing to self shoot, the concept of producing amateur porn with your own choice of partner, shooting in a freestyle way in a much shorter space of time is very appealing, and if this style is more preferential to the consumer, then everyone is a winner. I personally would be sad to see the demise of mainstream completely, as I personally do like to see a polished product.

I feel like we are now living in the “selfie culture”. The popularity of social media platforms has influenced this massively. I personally find that if a lot of money is spent on photographers, studios, editors, graphic designers that the end result is not as popular as a “selfie”. I believe this is because the consumer seems a selfie to be more authentic (it’s often not, it’s often still edited on phone apps). But I believe there’s a massive shift when it comes to marketing. I think this is why the porn studios are now not as successful, the new desire for self shot content, selfies means that it is very cheap to produce, meaning anyone can create content with a phone and a few apps. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the comments. I’m in a bit of a ranting mood today haha! But I’m a more mature lady, so it’s interesting to know how the times are changing, it’s important to move with the times x x

I’ve noticed that there’s a trend for self shot content, I always used to think that professional porn was more appealing because of the close ups and camera work. But does it matter so much if you can’t see the camera angles? Are you preferring to see couples on the bed with just a tripod set up? Let’s discuss.
