I also took pictures so his roommates can help him put on new dressings when he gets out of the shower each day. I wish he had more time at home but his classes start tomorrow. He is taking Physics 2, Chem 1, Calc 4 and Project Based Inquiry this semester. We are also making a safety plan with his surgeon contact info, symptoms of collapsed lung recurrence, telling his roommates these symptoms so they can call 911 if needed and checking his oxygen levels regularly with a finger pulse oximeter 🙏♥️

Hi friends ♥️I’m seeing life differently since I’ve been home from the hospital. I need to make sure I listen and pay attention so I can learn from this feeling and adjust. I’ve been reminded how life can change with one emergency phone call so quickly. How life is so fragile. How each day with our loved ones is precious. I can’t help but keep worrying about my son and get tears in my eyes when fear of his lung collapsing again while he is at college enters my mind. I jump when I hear a beeping or ringing noise because it reminds me of his oxygen dropping. I am so happy and thankful we are home but Ive also noticed these thoughts. I worry that he is not connected to the machine tracking his oxygen and pulse. It was so hard at the hospital but it felt safe to have his vitals checked regularly and to have regular X-ray to ensure he was okay. I need to change these thoughts but it will take time and that is okay. I will process this with patience and love from my support network. Thank you all for being here for me. You may see a big smile and tears running down my cheeks at the same time ♥️ I just want to hold him close and make sure he is safe ♥️ We will be bringing him to college Monday night because his classes start Tuesday. Please say an extra prayer that night as we hug goodbye in his dorm room ♥️

Thank you for all of your support, positive light and prayers while my son was in the hospital!♥️ We are so happy to be home! 💝It took multiple tries for his lung to fully adhere after his lung surgery and I thank you for helping me stay positive through all of the emotions that we faced each time his lung collapsed♥️ My son is still having some pain but feels so much better without the tubes in his chest!♥️

My daughter drew a picture of our doggies on the hospital white board and brought us homemade cinnamon muffins when she visited us today Aww💝 Great news! We have not had to turn the suction back on and and can continue the water seal!! We hope he can get his chest tube out tomorrow and go home!!🙏🙏🙏🙏My son is celebrating that he is off suction with his favorite chocolate bar my daughter and son bought for him! ♥️They bought it for him on the first day we were at the hospital and he has been waiting for a good time to eat it 😂

They have been doing chest X-rays every day and/or night since we have been in the hospital. The X-rays have been taken in our hospital room since my son hasn’t been able to leave his bed area while he is on suction. They have been using a vest to help prevent radiation and also have been covering me with a vest during the X-ray if I’m sleeping in the middle of the night. I have been going into the hallway or bathroom when I’m awake during the X-ray. I worry so much about the effects of my son having so much radiation with these X-rays. I think it will be important for him to have regular cancer screenings throughout his life. ♥️ The Dr came in and said after looking closer at the X-ray she is no longer concerned about a leak. They have water sealed my son’s chest tube and will be monitoring him closely for 24 hours 🙏♥️
