In the Victorian era, flowers became a means of communication, with each flower carrying its own symbolic meaning, allowing people to convey messages through floral arrangements known as "tussie-mussies." Today, gifting flowers remains a popular gesture for celebrations, expressions of sympathy, romance, and various other occasions, symbolizing beauty, affection, and emotion.

In ancient philosophy, thinkers like Aristotle discussed confidence as a virtue linked to courage and self-assurance. During the Renaissance, thinkers like Descartes emphasized the importance of self-confidence in the pursuit of knowledge and truth. In psychology, the study of confidence gained prominence in the late 19th and early 20th centuries with the emergence of fields like behaviorism and psychoanalysis. Psychologists began to explore the role of confidence in human behavior, cognition, and motivation. Throughout the 20th century, researchers such as Albert Bandura expanded our understanding of confidence through concepts like self-efficacy, which refers to an individual's belief in their ability to achieve goals and overcome challenges. This concept became central to fields like education, therapy, and organizational psychology. In contemporary society, confidence continues to be a topic of interest and debate, with self-help literature, motivational speakers, and personal development programs often focusing on building confidence as a key to success and fulfillment. Additionally, social media and digital technologies have influenced how people perceive and express confidence, shaping contemporary discussions and practices surrounding self-esteem and self-image.

I’ve learned most people don’t know the city is actually in both Kansas and MISSOURI- And I mean 50/50 (and if we’re being real, you know the best parts of the city are on the Missouri side, including Arrowhead stadium where the Chiefs play!) KC holds a massive place in my heart; it’s my favorite city for many reasons. I moved around the Midwest a lot as a kid, all over small towns, but Kansas City was always that place that we went to for things (other small town people know what I mean !!) Here's a brief overview of the city’s history: - **Early History**: Kansas City was founded in the 1830s as a port on the Missouri River. It played a significant role in westward expansion during the 19th century, serving as a major trading post and hub for pioneers heading westward on the Oregon, California, and Santa Fe Trails. - **Civil War**: During the Civil War, Kansas City was divided, with residents supporting both the Union and the Confederacy. The city experienced significant violence and conflict during this time. - **Industrialization**: In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Kansas City became a major industrial and transportation center. The city's economy thrived with the expansion of railroads, meatpacking, and manufacturing industries. - **Jazz Era**: In the 1920s and 1930s, Kansas City earned a reputation as one of the cradles of jazz music. Legendary jazz musicians such as Count Basie and Charlie Parker emerged from the city's vibrant jazz scene, which flourished in clubs along 12th Street and Vine. - **BBQ Capital**: Kansas City is renowned for its barbecue culture, which developed in the early 20th century. The city's signature style of slow-smoked meats, savory sauces, and flavorful rubs has made it a mecca for barbecue enthusiasts from around the world. - **Cultural Diversity**: Kansas City is a melting pot of cultures, with significant contributions from African American, Hispanic, and European immigrant communities. This diversity is reflected in the city's cuisine, music, and festivals. - **Sports**: Sports are also a big part of Kansas City's culture, with passionate fans supporting teams like the Kansas City Chiefs (NFL) and the Kansas City Royals (MLB). Overall, Kansas City's history and culture are characterized by its role in westward expansion, its contributions to jazz music and barbecue, its cultural diversity, and its love for sports.

2024-02-05 14:44:45 +0000 UTC View PostIt’s Monday, but let’s talk about casual Friday… Why do we have it ?? "Casual Friday" is a workplace practice that originated in the United States during the late 20th century. It gained popularity in the 1990s as a way for companies to allow employees to dress more casually at the end of the workweek. The trend was reportedly started in Hawaii in the 1960s when Hawaiian garment manufacturers encouraged people to wear Hawaiian shirts on Fridays, a practice that spread to the mainland. The idea was to boost morale and create a more relaxed atmosphere in the office. Over time, many companies adopted this practice as a way to promote employee satisfaction and work-life balance. Today, Casual Friday has become a widespread tradition in many workplaces around the world, although some companies have relaxed dress codes throughout the entire week.

Although I’m typically a “grey area” post-modernist, I’ve learned a lot about humans studying them, and I entertain the good or evil theory with confidence. What’s your opinion on Mao Zedong?
